Using straight knitting needles size 5 mm and two strands of nylon mohair yarn (pull a strand from the inside of the ball), cast on 4 sts and work back and forth on the needles.
Row 1 (Right Side (RS)): Slip 1 stitch (st) knitwise, knit (k) 3. Row 2 (Wrong Side (WS)): Slip 1 st purlwise, purl (p) 3. Row 3: As row 1. Row 4: As row 2. Row 5: Slip 1 knitwise, k1, yarn over needle (yon), k2. Row 6: Slip 1 purlwise, p4. Row 7: Slip 1 knitwise, k4. Row 8: As row 6. Row 9: Slip 1 knitwise, k1, yon, k1, yon, k2. Row 10: Slip 1 purlwise, p6. Row 11: Slip 1 knitwise, k6. Row 12: As row 11. Row 13: Slip 1 knitwise, k1, yon, k2, yon, knit 2 together (k2tog), k1. Row 14: Slip 1 purlwise, p7. Row 15: Slip 1 knitwise, k7. Row 16: As row 14.
Now continue increasing in every 4th row, i.e. repeat rows 13-16 (both rs included). Make sure that you increase only on the right-hand side of the work. Work a total of 28 increases = 32 sts (approx. 53 cm or to the desired length).
Now decrease in every 4th r as follows: RS rows: Slip 1 knitwise, k1, yon, k2tog, k2tog and then work k until last 3 sts in the r, yon, k2tog, k1. WS rows: Slip 1 purlwise, p to end of r. Work 1 r (k to end) and 1 r (p to end), not forgetting to slip the first st as before.
Continue until 8 sts remain. Work the last 6 rs as follows: RS rows: Slip 1 knitwise, k1, k2tog, yon, k2tog, k2. WS rows: Slip 1 purlwise, p6. RS rows: Slip 1 knitwise, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1. WS rows: Slip 1 purlwise, p4. RS rows: Slip 1 knitwise, k1, k2tog, k1. WS rows: Cast off the last 4 sts purlwise. Weave in ends and press your scarf
