Christmas patchwork wreath

Anna's quirky way of thinking lets her see possibilities in most items. Here, she uses patchwork fabric and pipe cleaners to create a charming Christmas wreath that will adorn any home. "This darling wreath can be used year after year and will spark joy during the Christmas time," she smiles.

1

Download, print, and cut out the template. Use the template to cut out four pieces of the same type of fabric.

2

Fold one of the four pieces of fabric lengthwise, making sure that the back of the fabric is on the outside of the fold. Sew the fabric together by hand with a seam allowance of approximately 0.5 cm.

3

Turn the sewn fabric inside out, so the pattern is now on the outside. Fill the tube with padding.

4

Put the stem wire through the middle of the padded tube as shown in the video and make sure that the wire protudes in both ends.

5

Now you can create the candleflame by shaping two flames, one big and one small, from metallic pipe cleaners. Place the smaller one inside the large flame, just as Anna does in the video.

6

Place the assembled flame at the top of the stem wire in the padded candle and fasten the flame by pinching the wire around the bottom of the flame.

7

Tug the stem wire further down to the bottom of the fabric candle so the flame is right at the opening of the candle. Close the candle by sewing the candle shut around the flame, thus securing the flame to the candle. Sew the bottom of the candle together as well, but remember to let the stem wire peep out.

8

Repeat steps 2-7 thrice, so that you have four candles in total.

9

Rip strips with a width of approximately 5-6 cm from a new piece of patchwork fabric that has another pattern than the fabric used for the candles.

10

Fasten each strip to the bottom of the polystyrene ring with one or two sequin pins and wrap the strip tightly around the ting, covering it completely. Fasten the end with another sequin pin. If one strip of fabric is not enough, add another where the first strip ends.

11

Make a hole through the patchwork fabric on top of the polystyrene ring with a thick needle. Place a candle into the hole. Repeat this step for all of the candles.

12

Tie four bows with your ribbon and use sequin pins to fasten these onto the wreath at the bottom of each candle.

13

Use sequin pins to attach sequins and other decorative items to the wreath. "You can create beautiful different-coloured spirals from pipe cleaners or decorate the wreath delightfully with beads," Anna says.
