"With small pieces of fabric, you can create a wonderful patchwork piece," Anna says with delight. Use the fabric of your choosing but do not hesitate to combine different colours and patterns.
Print out the template and select the desired patchwork fabrics in patterns and colours of your choosing. Consider the rug as divided into 12 sections to make the patchwork piece, and work with that in mind.
First, sew the squares of the checkered sections together by making lengths of small squares. Then sew the small lengths together so that you get a shape of a square.
Now it's time to make the star sections. Start by sewing together the corners and then work yourself inwards towards the center of the star, one side at a time.
Now sew all 12 sections together. Cut them before sewing for a more precise result.
Cut out the edging and sew around the assembled sections. You need two long edgings measuring 140 x 14 cm and two short edgings measuring 110 x 14 cm.
Use needles to attach the cotton batting to the whole backside of the piece.
Achieve a quilted expression by sewing by hand the outline of all 12 sections, the stars, or whichever details you want to highlight.
Now cut a large piece of fabric of approximately 95 x 125 cm for the back of the blanket or sew together 12 squares corresponding to the patchwork sections. Attach the back of the blanket using needles.
Bend the edge around and adjust so that there is an edge of 4 cm on both sides. Bend the corners by folding the tip together at the back while bending the raw edge into the edging. Continuously fasten using needles.
Sew the edge together at the back by hand. You now have a finished patchwork blanket.
