Graceful paper flowers 24. April 2023

Download and print the templates. Cut out the templates and cut six petals from each petal template along with a circle. Cut out three small leaves too using the small template and a rectangle using the template for this.

Use a marker to draw on each petal, you can do this on both sides. In the video, Anna adds shadows to the bottom of the flower petals with rose and light green markers and then speckles and lines with a dark red. Use the colours you like, or leave them out completely.

Straighten out the rectangle by pulling at it and fold it along the long side. Cut notches along the open side. Here, it is advantageous to use smaller scissors. When finished, it will be a long strip with fringes.

Using the glue gun, glue a paper ball onto a stem wire and glue the circle onto the ball.

Shape the petals by pulling lightly at them with both hands and use the marker to shape them as shown in the video. Do the same with the small leaves.

Glue one round of the fringed strip along the edge of the circle and add flower pips by cutting them in half and gluing them on in bundles. Finish the inner of the flower by gluing the rest of the strip around the paper ball.

Glue the petals onto the flower with a light overlap around the paper ball until it is completely covered and there are no petals left. Finish off the flower crown with the last three leaves.

Now, make more leaves for the flower. Anna shows two different techniques for this in the video. You can opt to cut out a simple leaf and shape it with your fingers or make a two-part leaf where the crepe paper lines are aligned with the lines of an actual leaf. Glue together in the middle with a metal wire or a stem wire in the gathering.

Use the flower tape to cover the stem wires for the flower and the leaves. Let your flower be one of many beautiful crepe paper flowers in a vase or let it stand out on its own.
