Paint a tree with watercolours using a simple technique. "I can't believe that such a simple technique can create such beautiful results," Clara says thrilled. "Sometimes it doesn't take that much effort," Anna smiles.
Optional: Start by taping your watercolour paper to a cutting mat using decorative tape or painter’s tape. This step is not necessary, but it is a nice way to avoid the paper from bending while the paint dries.
Paint a simple tree trunk with branches as well as roots at the bottom of the trunk using a thin paint brush. Let the paint dry shortly.
Paint the forest floor using a wide paint brush. You can with advantage use different nuances of a colour - here green is used. While the paint is still wet, you can stroke a bit of salt on the painting to create a textured effect.
Grab a piece of paper (approx. A5) and crinkle it into a ball.
Make a concentrated amount of paint in different nuances on a plate, here red nuances are used. Dip the paper ball into the paint and then dab directly onto the tree where you want the tree crown to be placed.
Repeat the technique multiple times to create the effect of a tree crown with leaves.
Carefully remove the salt when the paint has dried. Now, you have a simple tree.
