With smart and simple methods, you can turn objects found in the home into lovely still lifes, whether you want to paint a plate, a napkin or a fruit. Follow Anna's guide where she paints a lemon with a painting spatula and find inspiration for how you can make your own creations.
Paint the whole canvas in a colour of your own choice and let it dry. In the video, Anna has used a light mint green colour.
Use decorative tape for marking a broad frame around the canvas.
From now on, mix all the colours you want to use for your artwork with the following mixture: approx. one tsp. baking soda and one tsp. paint.
First, spackle a textured square on the canvas in your desired colour inside the frame made up of decorative tape. Remove the decorative tape to create an even edge.
When the square is dry, continue to spackle your chosen motif in the colours of your choice. As you can see in the video, Anna has used a yellow for the lemon, together with a mustard yellow colour to create shadows. To paint the leaves, she has used a green paint together with a pointed spatula. Finally, she has used a mix of blue and white paint to paint the draped cloth behind the lemon.
If you would like to make a different or more simple motif, you can simply spackle your own unique motif as soon as the square is dry.
