Baked apples with marzipan crumble and mascarpone custard
"Auntie Clara, it smells delicious," the nephew exclaims happily. Soon the nieces also make their way into the kitchen to taste Clara's warm baked apples with marzipan crumble and mascarpone custard.
Wash the apples and cut them into halves.
Hollow out the apple halves slightly and brush them with melted butter.
For the marzipan crumble, the marzipan is shredded coarsely and mixed with the other crumble ingredients. Make sure everything is thoroughly mixed.
Fill the apple halves with crumble and bake them for 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees. The baked apples should be soft and tender, but they are especially lovely when they still have a little bite to them.
While the apples are in the oven, the double cream is whipped stiff and the mascarpone, lemon peel, and icing sugar are gently folded in.
You can now serve the crumble-filled baked apples with a dollop of mascarpone custard while the apples are still warm.
