After a day of doing all sorts of practical chores, Anna and Clara enjoy a quiet moment of crocheting and a nice cup of tea. ”It is just wonderful to immerse yourself in crocheting,” Anna says with a smile. Over the years, the sisters have created a number of items by crocheting and they have gathered several lovely crochet patterns so you can follow their lead. Learn how to crochet with Anna and Clara and try their wonderful patterns for both adults and children.
The Sisters’ Crochet Patterns
Are you looking for free crochet patterns? Below you can find many wonderful crochet patterns with which the sisters hope to inspire you to bring out your crochet hook and yarn. You can find even more crochet patterns amongst the sisters’ DIY-projects under the category Yarn and Patterns. ”Forget the need for perfection and enjoy the feeling of immersing yourself in creative work with a focus on ’hygge’ over results,” Clara suggests.
Learn to crochet
”Learn to crochet with the right equipment,” Clara says. The first step towards wonderful crocheted items is to choose a crochet hook and yarn. Amongst the sisters’ products you will always find a large selection of accessories for crocheting.
If you are new to crocheting, the sisters advise you to first learn about the different crocheting techniques. Crochet stitches are nooses, which you pull through each other with a crochet hook, however, there are many different types of stitches. Anna and Clara recommend that you first practice with the four most common stitches in crocheting: chain stitch, slip stitch, double crochet, and treble crochet.
A simple crochet pattern
Amongst the sisters’ DIY -projects, you can find crochet patterns for both the advanced and novices. If you are new to the world of crocheting, it can be a good idea to start with small, simple patterns. Anna suggests that you crochet make-up remover pads for yourself or as hostess gift for a loved one. ”It is an ideal project for the novice,” she says with a smile. In the DIY-video, Anna shows how to crochet these. You can also find the pattern so you can easily follow her steps.
The crocheted make-up remover pads are a lovely alternative to the disposable cotton pads because they are reusable. The sisters recommend that you put the pads in cold water for 24 hours and wash them at 40 degrees thereafter. This improves the yarn pads’ absorbency.
Crochet for the dear little ones
In the sister’s creative workshop, they have lots of different, wonderful yarn, which they use for both knitting, crocheting, and other creative projects. The infinite possibilities of yarn can still fascinate the two sisters. ”Just imagine the journey behind a knitted jumper or a crocheted blanket,” says Clara.
The sisters especially love crocheting lovely gifts for the dear little ones in their family. ”The joy of giving becomes even greater when the gift is homemade,” Anna says with a smile. She enjoys crocheting sweet teddy bears for baby showers and maternity visits. If you wish to gift a different present, you can try your hand at a crocheted stroller chain or a fun sleep mask for the new mother, Anna suggests.
Creative crocheting
In her encyclopaedia, Clara has read that the art of crocheting can be traced to the beginning of 19th century Europe. “It is just wonderful to think about how the old techniques are still used today,” she says with a smile. The sisters believe that crocheting creates balance and calmness in a busy life, and they always relax when they crochet. “Crocheting is a calming activity and therapeutic for the soul,” as Anna says.
Over the years, the sisters have crocheted all sorts of lovely pieces for themselves and their loved ones. Anna especially enjoys the smaller crochet projects where she can quickly see her results, while Clara loves to immerse herself in the larger crocheting projects. If you wish to crochet smaller projects, like Anna, you might want to make small Christmas decorations and other decorations for the home.
Crochet patterns for great gifts
Many years ago, Anna gifted Clara a crocheted tote bag, and this is still highly appreciated today. “There is nothing quite like a homemade gift,” Clara says with a smile.
The sisters find that the homemade gifts bring a special feeling of ‘hygge’ because they are personal and can be made to perfectly suit the taste and needs of the person who will receive it. Amongst Anna and Clara’s DIY-projects, you can find several ideas for homemade gifts. For example, they have gathered several crochet patterns for lovely pieces, which would make perfect gifts.
