Bring new life to your sweater with crochet flowers

On a walk across a flower meadow on a chilly summer evening, Anna finds the inspiration to renew her old knitted sweater with lovely crochet flowers.

1

Most of the flowers shown here are made on a crochet needle size 3. Make a magic ring with a single stitch and avoid tightening the ring just yet.

2

Now, crochet the first flower leaf on the magic ring like this: 1 double chrochet, 1 treble chrochet and 1 double crochet.

3

Now, crochet around the magic ring to add more flower leaves. Add four more leaves to give a total of five leaves on the magic ring.

4

Cut the string to the ball of yarn and pull on the opposite loose end to close the magic ring and finish the flower.

5

Make as many flowers as you please, and sew them onto the sweater with a large needle. You can add a middle to the flowers with a different colour yarn.

6

Make flowers in a different colour using the same crochet method and add these to the sweater. You can vary the flowers by using chrochet needles of different sizes or by making some leaves as such: 1 double crochet, 2 treble crochet and 1 double crochet, rather than the original method.

7

You can embroid green leaves or other details such as straws around the flowers.
