Christmas bauble with felt
Personalise this year's Christmas tree with a darling homemade felt Christmas bauble. "A particularly charming and cosy addition," Anna finds. "And it will remind us of the cosy moments of Christmas crafting together," she smiles at her sister.
Print and cut out the template.
Place a sheet of hobby felt on the table and use the template to draw and cut out 40 small leaves.
Embroider a leaf pattern with a needle and embroidery thread on half of the leaves. This is done by making a knot on the embroidery thread, which is secured on the back of the leaf. Then, make four stitches along the centre of the leaf, followed by eight diagonal stitches.
Retrieve your polystyrene ball and begin by attaching five leaves without embroidery using short pins, as shown in the video.
In the next round of leaves, use five leaves with embroidery and five without. Alternate attaching leaves without and with embroidery as an extension of the first set of leaves, gradually covering the polystyrene ball more and more. Follow the same procedure for the next two rows.
Now, cut a piece of metal wire of approx. 7 cm and a piece of gold-coloured ribbon of approx. 43 cm.
Make a loop with the gold-coloured ribbon and tie a bow with the ends of the ribbon. Fold the metal wire in half, and secure the loop into the fold.
Now, insert the ends of the wire into the top of the polystyrene ball to secure the loop.
For the last row, use five leaves with embroidery and attach them to cover the top of the polystyrene ball. Your Christmas bauble is now ready to adorn the Christmas tree.
