Coasters with seashells

In the sisters' summer cottage, most of the décor is inspired by days spent on the beach. Even the coasters ooze of moments of 'hygge' and laughter in the sun. "How marvellous that such a simple technique can produce so many warm feelings," Anna smiles. Make your own with this guide.

1

Roll out a piece of clay until it has a thickness of 0.7 cm.

2

Use a coaster as a template. Place the coaster on top of the clay and cut around it with a precision knife.

3

Remove the coaster and the excess clay. Even out the surface of the clay with a brush and some water.

4

Place the seashells in a kitchen towel and break these using a hammer.

5

Place your seashell pieces and optionally some small, whole seashells on top of the clay. Roll over the piece using a rolling pin, so the pieces are pressed into the clay.

6

Now, the new coaster can be left to dry. Here, it is a good idea to place a cutting board or similar on top of the coaster to ensure that the clay remains flat while drying. When the coaster is dry, it is ready for use.
