Create a festive jellyfish costume

Begin by cutting off the umbrella's strap.

Now paint the umbrella's fabric; first with a blue base colour, and then with metallic paint for a shimmering effect. Allow the paint to dry between each layer.

Now decorate your umbrella according to your own taste with glitter glue, paint, sequins, or other materials. "If your creativity needs a little nudge, feel free to find inspiration in the video," Anna reminds.

Now cut strips of ribbon, string, and tulle in optional colours for the tentacles, which should hang down from the umbrella to the desired length. "But not so long that the little ones trip over them," Clara advises. Optionally, decorate the string with beads for an extra ornamental effect.

Gather the strips into tentacles with approximately eight ribbons in each, for instance by sewing them together. Then, tie or sew the tentacles securely around the edges of the umbrella.

Now, the fringed edge of the umbrella is to be made from tulle. Cut a long piece of tulle to a width of approximately 10 cm, and thread a piece of sewing thread through the middle of the tulle. This can also be done on a sewing machine, as shown in the video. Gently tighten so the tulle gathers. The tulle should ideally end up matching the circumference of the umbrella.

Now fasten the tulle around the edge of the umbrella with string.

Finally, mount a string of lights around the edge of the umbrella behind the tulle, and attach the battery pack to the inside of the umbrella with strong tape.

The costume is now ready for imaginative play and carnival. "And it can easily be folded up and used time and time again," Clara remarks thoughtfully with a smile.
