Create Christmas candy canes
Turn this year’s Christmas decorations into something special with homemade elements. This Christmas candy cane of macramé cord is a hit with both youngsters and adults. “Only your imagination sets the limit,†Anna says with a smile.
Use a pair of nippers to cut a piece of wire in the size you wish for your candy cane. Then cut six pieces of white macramé cord, which should be approximately 4 cm longer than the wire.
Place three pieces of cord as close as possible to each other and add some glue with a glue gun along the middle of the three pieces of cord.
Place the wire on top of the glue and place the last three pieces of cord on top. If necessary, use more glue and press the cord pieces around the wire.
Cut a long piece of embroidery yarn and fold this several times, until you have one large string of 7-8 strings.
Add some glue onto the end of the macramé stick and fasten the one end of the large embroidery string. Twist the large embroidery string around the macramé stick.
Tighten the other end of the large embroidery stick with glue as well.
Bend the top of the stick to get the right shape of a candy cane. Unravel the ends of the macramé cord to fringe them.
Use a thick needle and a piece of yarn to sew a loop onto the candy cane. You are now ready to hang the Christmas candy cane.
