Crêpe paper crocuses
Anna has created the sweetest little crocuses, which now stand beautifully planted in pots and adorn the sisters' cosy home. At Clara's suggestion, she has made a few more to be used as hostess gifts when they attend this year's Easter gatherings. "There is a special delight in receiving a homemade gift," as Clara says.
Download and print the template. Cut out the two shapes so they are ready for use.
Cut a piece of purple and green crêpe paper to fit the size for six crocus petals and two long leaves, respectively. Gently stretch the paper as shown in the video. Then, using the template, cut out the six crocus petals from the purple crêpe paper and two long leaves from the green crêpe paper.
Cut two thin strips of green crêpe paper and stretch them out, so they resemble tape.
Draw with a dark purple marker along the edge of each crocus petal to achieve a lifelike effect. Remember that you can see how it is done in the video.
Cut a metal rod to the desired length for your flower using the wire cutter. Now your flower is ready to be assembled.
Gather three stamens, and use the glue gun to attach them to one end of a metal rod.
Then, glue each of the purple crocus petals around the stamens using the glue gun.
Add a little craft glue to the tape-like, green crêpe paper piece, and wrap the paper around the metal stem. Start just below the flower head.
Roll the tops of the two green leaves — see how in the video. Glue the leaves approximately in the middle of the metal rod using the glue gun.
Repeat step 8, though this time, you should start just below the two green leaves, so the entire metal rod is covered with green crêpe paper.
Place a bit of moss in a small pot, and insert the finished crocus flower. Finish with a sweet little ribbon. "A blooming beauty that does not wither," Clara remarks.
