Crepe paper spruce cone
"Spruce cones come in all the colours of the rainbow. At least if you make them yourself," Anna says.
Cut a piece of stem wire of approx. 15 cm, and then cut strips of kitchen roll approx. 2 cm wide.
Glue kitchen roll strips to the stem wire with decoupage glue, covering about 9 cm of the stem wire until a slender cone shape appers.
Cut a crepe paper strip of 25 cm x 2 cm. Stretch the paper and roll it over the kitchen roll shape until it is covered.
Roll floral tape around the excess piece of stem wire while stretching the floral tape.
Cut five strips of crepe paper of 5 cm x 15 cm, stretch them partly and cut them in the middle. Fold one of the pieces and cut a 4 cm notch in the middle where the piece is folded. Cut three more 4 cm notches while the piece is still folded. There should be 1.5 cm space between the notches.
Round the corners of the notches with scissors as shown in the video and stretch the rounded corners with your fingers.
Prepare the four final crepe paper strips the same way.
Now, you are to attach the crepe paper cone scales to the slender cone shape with a glue gun. Cut the cone scale strips in sections, so each section goes around the cone shape and alligns neatly. Start at the tip of the cone and continue upwards until the cone is covered. The final pieces of cone scale should be cut shorter than the rest.
Bend the end of the stem halfway around your finger so it functions as a hook to hang the cone on the Christmas tree.
