Crochet short-sleeved cardigan

The top is crocheted from the bottom up in a simple clam pattern. You divide the work at the armhole and then work the fronts and back separately. The sleeves are crocheted along the length of the armholes. This is a one-size pattern. To adjust the size, simply increase or reduce the number of clam pattern sequences.

Make a loop and work 93 loose chain stitches (ch), turn. Row (r) 1: Skip the first ch and work 92 double crochet stitches (dc), 3 ch, turn. R 2: Skip first dc, work 2 treble crochet stitches (tr), 2 ch, 2 tr, all into the next stitch (st) (= 1 pattern sequence), then *skip 3 sts, 2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr, all into next st*, repeat from * to * to last 2 sts, skip 1 st, 1 tr in last st, 3 ch, turn. R 3: Now work *2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr into the chain space of the previous r*, repeat from * to * to last st, 1 tr into last st, 3 ch, turn. Now repeat r 3 a total of 12 times. Divide the work at the armholes.

Fronts: Continue working r 3 with 6 clam pattern sequences for 9 rs, turn. Neck shaping: In r 10 after armhole divide, work only 4 clam pattern sequences and then in r 11 only 3. Continue until you have worked a total of 12 rs from the armhole divide. Work the other front to match, reversing the shaping. Back: Work r 3 across the remaining 11 clam pattern sequences until you have worked 12 rows after the armhole divide.

Sleeves: Sew shoulder seams. Start at the lowest point of the armhole with a clam pattern (as in r 3), but work 1 pattern sequence into every second link = 11 pattern sequences around the sleeve. Join with a slip stitch (ss). Start the next row with 3 ch. Work 6 rds or make the sleeve as long as you wish.

Make two ties on the fronts (work ch and then work back with ss) (each tie is approx. 20 cm long). Weave in ends.
