Crocheted bucket hat for the little ones

In this pattern, there are two colour combinations for you to choose from. You work with a size 5.0 mm hook and 2 strands of yarn. The easiest way is to pull a strand from the centre of the ball.

Round (rd) 1: Using Col 1, make a magic ring and work 6 double crochets (dc). Set a stitch marker in the 6th dc from the hook.

Rds 2-3: Work 2 half treble crochet stitches (htr) into each stitch (st) to end of rd (24 sts). When you reach the stitch marker, move it 1 st back (move the stitch marker in this way after every rd).

Rds 4-6: To increase (inc), *work 2 htr and then work 2 htr into the next st*. Repeat from * to * to end of rd. From this point onwards, inc in the same sts in every rd. Now break off 1 strand of the yarn. Attach 1 strand of Col 2.

Rds 7-8: Continue to inc as before.

Size 1-3: Rd 9: Inc only in alternate inc sts (this is the last inc rd).

Rd 10: Work dc to end of rd. There are now 68 sts in all.

Size 4-6: Rd 9: *Work 2 htr and then work 2 htr into the nextst*. Repeat from * to * to end of rd. Rd 10: Inc only in alternate inc sts. There are now Rds 11-14: Continue working dc. Break off 1 strand of Col 2. Attach 1 strand of Col 3.

Rds 15-18: Continue working dc. Break off the other strand of Col 2. Attach 1 strand of Col 3.

Rds 19-20: Continue working dc. Now work the brim: Rd 21: In this rd, you work only in the front loop of the sts. *Work 2 htr and then work 2 htr into the next st*. Repeat from * to * to end of rd. Rds 22-24: Work htr (no incs). At end of rd, work 2 dc and 2 slip stitches. Break yarn, weave in ends and your beanie hat is finished.
