Crocheted heart ornaments
Anna and Clara intend to delight their loved ones with homemade Christmas decorations. Therefore, they have already started creating these heart ornaments, so they are ready to adorn the home when the holidays arrive.
Make 4 chain stitches (ch) and join with a slip stitch (ss) or make a magic ring.
Round (rd) 1: Crochet in the rd. Work 2 double crochet (dc) into each ch = 8 dc in all. Mark start of rd.
Rd 2: Work 1 half treble crochet (htr) into each stitch but only into the back loop of dc in previous rd. This forms a chain pattern on the heart. Continue working this pattern in all rds.
Rds 3 + 4: Work 2 htr into every second htr and 1 htr into each of the other htr.
Rds 5 + 6: Work 1 htr into each htr.
Rd 7: Now work the centre of the heart: Work 2 dc into the same htr through both loops and through both front and back so that the heart gathers at the centre. There are now 12 htr on each side of the 2 dc worked together. Now work the arches of the heart separately.
Rds 8 + 9: Arch: Work 1 htr into each htr.
Rd 10: Work 1 htr into every second htr. Now pull the thread through the back loop of every htr, and pull taut to shape the arch. Weave in end.
Stuff the base of the heart and the finished arch with fibre filling. Make the other arch and stuff with filling before closing. Sew in ends and insert cord to hang.
If you wish to make a larger heart, just repeat rds 3-6 and then the arch rds.
