Decoration of baskets for the children's room
With leftover yarn, a practical basket can easily be transformed into a decorative and cosy addition to the children's room. "I love lions," the nephew says excitedly, and Anna can immediately envision the upcoming project.
Start by sketching the desired motif on the basket using a pencil.
Then thread a needle with yarn in your desired colour, and sew on top of the sketched lines to reveal your chosen pattern. It is ideal to use leftover yarn for this, if you have any.
Wrap yarn around your fingers and cut the yarn at one end, as shown in the video. For the lion's mane, approximately one ball of yarn is used in total, but the sisters suggest that you create the yarn pieces bit by bit, as you can always make more along the way if necessary.
Now, fold the yarn in half. With a crochet hook, pull 3-4 strands of yarn at a time through the basket until about half of the yarn is through. Then, pull the loose ends through the loop and tighten gently.
Repeat step 4 until you eventually achieve a circular lion's mane, and let the basket adorn and encourage imaginative play in the children's room.
