Decorative air-dry clay dishes or wall décor
With air-dry clay, you can easily create trinket dishes or wall hangings for decoration. "Seashells and paint add the perfect finishing touch," Anna adds.
Knead a bit of clay, and roll it out to the desired size.
Make an impression in the clay with the seashell. Moisten the clay with a little water to prevent cracks, and optionally highlight the seashell's pattern with the end of a thin brush.
If you wish to create a clay imprint that can be hung on a wall, then unfold a paper clip as shown in the video. Cut off the rounded end with pliers, so you are left with a V-shaped hook. Insert this into the top of the clay piece.
Let the clay dry completely before painting it.
Paint the entire clay dish with a base colour of acrylic paint, or leave it bare. Then, create a splash effect by diluting acrylic paint in your desired colour with a little water, and spray it on by gently tapping the back of the brush, as demonstrated in the video.
When the paint is dry, finish the project by brushing with clear varnish, giving the dish or wall hanging a glossy, ceramic-like finish.
