Dried orange decorations
"The scent of Christmas is spreading," Clara smiles as she enters the dining room. Anna is busily creating dried orange decorations that can be used as ornaments, table centrepieces, and tags gift tags. Follow the sisters' lead with this simple guide. "And be careful with the sharp knife," Clara gently notes.

First, cut the top off your orange so that it is slightly open to the flesh.

Next, cut symmetrical grooves in the orange peel from top to bottom, but stop approximately 1-1.5 cm from the bottom of the orange.

Carefully peel the orange, and set aside the fruit. You should now have achieved a star of orange peel. Remove most of the white from the peel.

Now trim the star's points until you achieve the desired shape. Optionally, cut the excess, trimmed orange peel into narrow strips and place them on top of the star with the orange side facing upwards to create a beautiful play of colours. Press these extra orange strips firmly into the star.

Now place a heavy chopping board on top of the star to flatten it, and let it dry in a warm place. Ensure that some air can still reach the orange during the drying process, so it does not rot.

Use your dried orange stars to hang around the home, as decoration for the Christmas table, or as tags on Christmas gifts.
