Drum-shaped Advent calendar

"A festive way to arrange the little ones' Advent calendar gifts," Anna smiles, admiring Clara's new creation, which you can easily replicate. Create a festive drum with space for small surprises, bringing joy and excitement to the dear little ones.

1

Start by cutting the wrapping paper to a size that fits the sides of the gift box base. Remember to cut the wrapping paper approximately 5 cm longer both at the top and bottom, so you also have enough to cover a little of the inside and bottom of the gift box.

2

Now place plenty of double-sided tape on the gift box, and attach the wrapping paper as smoothly as possible to it. Similarly, fold the extra 5 cm of wrapping paper at the top and bottom towards the inside of the gift box, and secure with double-sided tape. You may find it helpful to cut a small notch in the wrapping paper, making it easier to secure without too many folds.

3

Now, mark dots with a pencil along the top and bottom of the gift box, creating a zigzag pattern. Remember to place the points in a staggered manner, and use your chosen ribbon to determine where the dots should be placed, so they can subsequently be hidden by the ribbon.

4

Next, pierce holes in the outlined dots with an awl, and thread the gold string through them to create a lovely zigzag pattern on the outside of the drum. See how in the video.

5

Now the lid of the box needs to be decorated. Use double-sided tape to attach a piece of fabric to the outside of the lid.

6

Now use the glue gun to attach an optional, wide fabric ribbon along the edge of both the box lid and the top edge of the box base.

7

Turn the bottom of the box upwards, and place 25 holes evenly distributed on the box's bottom. Ensure that there is a hole in the centre of the box's bottom.

8

Next, thread gold string through the 25 holes as shown in the video, and feel free to tie a knot at the ends of the strings to prevent fraying.

9

Also, make a hole in the centre of the box lid with an awl. Thread the string from the centre hole of the box base through the hole in the box lid and back through the holes, creating a handle to hang the drum. Secure with a bead, a knot, or something similar, so the string does not pull through the hole when you hang the drum with the weight of the gifts. Now place the box lid on the box base to conceal the holes.

10

If you like, you can embellish the drum with extra details for a more festive or personal expression. "Or let the little ones join in the decorating," Anna suggests.

11

Finally, hang 24 small Advent calendar gifts on the strings, and use the drum as part of your Christmas décor.
