Elegant woolly vest
During an excursion to the back of the closet, Clara came upon a knitted vest passed down from past generations. This is the inspiration behind this pattern for an elegant woolly vest.
Using circular needle size 7.0 mm, cast on 60 stitches (sts). Work 10 rows (rs) in k1, p1 rib (= *knit (k) 1, purl (p) 1”, rep from * to * to end). Continue in stocking stitch. Work 60 rows. Now shape the armhole: In alternate rows, cast off 5-3-2-1-1 sts on both sides (36 sts). Continue in stocking stitch. Work 20 rows.Now shape the neckline: Cast off the middle 6 sts and work each side separately. Then, on alternate rows, cast off 3-2-1-1 sts at the neck edge (8 sts). Cast off. Work the other side to match. Cast off.

Now shape the armhole: cast off 5-3-2-1-1 sts in alternate rows on both sides (36 sts). Continue in stocking stitch. Work 10 rows. Now shape the neckline: Cast off the middle 6 sts and work each side separately. Then, on alternate rows, cast off 3-1-1-1-1 sts along neck side. Knit 12 rows in stocking stitch (8 sts). Cast off. Work the other side to match. Cast off.
Using circular knitting needle size 7.0 mm, pick up 60 sts around the armhole. Work 8 rows in k1, p1 rib. Cast off.
Using circular knitting needle size 7.0 mm, pick up 60 sts around the neckline. Work 8 rows in k1, p1 rib. Cast off.
Sew pieces together. Weave in ends.
