Embellish your knits with yarn embroidery
Anna has gathered leftover yarn to decorate her nieces' and nephew's old knitted jumpers. "With small, charming additions, the jumper receives completely new life," Anna explains. You, too, can easily upgrade your knitwear with personal embroidery.
Begin by threading the needle with the red cotton yarn. Double the yarn, and tie a knot at the end. Now, insert the needle through the jumper at the spot where you wish to start the embroidery.
Embroider flat stitches in a length that matches the shape of a mushroom, and finish with a knot.
Now thread the white cotton yarn in the same way as the red one. Make a French knot as shown in the video. Repeat the process a few times until you have the desired number of white spots on the mushroom's cap.
Continue with the white cotton yarn to create the stem underneath the mushroom using satin stitch. Finish with a knot.
When you have made the desired number of mushrooms, it is time to make the blackberries. Thread the needle with blue cotton yarn in the same manner as before. Create French knots close to each other so that the berry begins to take shape. In the video, each berry is made up of 3-4 French knots in 3 rows, finished with 2 centred knots at the bottom.
Finally, the leaves for the blackberries need to be made. Thread the needle with green yarn, and sew a few simple stitches at the top of each blackberry. Finish with a knot.
Continue to embroider blackberries until the desired amount is reached, and then the sweater is ready to use.
