Embroidered Christmas candle made of ribbon
With the sisters' guide, you can sew and embroider a personalised Christmas candle using ribbon and beads. "Ideal as an addition to Christmas gifts or as a charming ornament on the tree," Anna suggests."
Begin by cutting a piece of wide ribbon to a length of approximately 18 cm and folding the ribbon in half. Turn the side you want visible on the finished ornament out.
Choose the desired colour of embroidery thread to sew the edges together. Start at one of the corners where the ends of the ribbon are gathered – this will be the top of the candle. Be sure to begin 2-3 mm from the top of the candle, leaving a small amount of ribbon to fold in when the candle is to be sealed. Sew all the way around, but avoid closing the top of the candle.
Now fill the candle with cotton wool, and finish by closing the top with embroidery thread.
Decorate the candle with your desired embroidery motif or beads; you can find inspiration in the video. You can also stitch the year or someone's initials – the only limit is your imagination.
Finally, create the candle flame by threading golden beads onto a metal wire and shaping it like a flame, as shown in the video. Attach the flame to the candle with wire.
If you like, you can attach a string in the flame for hanging, and then your personal – and reusable – Christmas candle is ready.
