Feather watercolour painting

Sketch out the feather on the watercolour paper with a pencil.

Fill the desired watercolours in a palette tray.

Start by gradually building the feather in layers of colour on the paper. Start with the lightest shades where you mix the colour with a lot of water, and then paint with darker and darker shades as you add more and more colour to the brush. This brings depth to the motif. Mix the colours together a bit and tone out the darkest shades a bit.

Finally, paint the darkest details with a very small amount of water on the brush so the colours do not run.
