Floral hanging decoration with string lights and ribbons
According to the sisters, a hanging decoration can transform a room in an instant. With soft ribbons, delicate tulle and a floral string of lights, you can create an atmospheric piece that brings both lightness and warmth to your celebration. “Let the light dance between ribbons and flowers, and create an expression suited to your occasion,” Anna smiles.
Cut strips of ribbon and tulle in your preferred colours, each measuring approximately 50–70 cm in length.
Take your metal ring and wrap the floral string lights around it. As you go, you may secure the lights with tape. Allow a few flowers to hang slightly below the ring for a light and lively expression. Be sure to keep the battery box loose so the batteries can easily be replaced.
Wrap the ribbon and tulle strips around the ring. Fold each strip in half, place the loop over the ring and pull the ends through the loop to fasten them to the metal ring.
Next, wrap a ribbon around the ring, beginning just after the battery box so it remains accessible. Weave the ribbon between the string lights and the ribbon and tulle strips to conceal the wire and create a beautiful, cohesive finish. “Make sure the strips continue to hang freely and lightly,” Clara emphasises.
Once the ribbon has been wrapped all the way around, secure it with a few knots. Using an additional ribbon, fasten the battery box to the ring so it can easily be loosened again when the batteries need replacing for your next celebration.
Finish by attaching a ribbon for hanging and let the glowing decoration adorn the ceiling at your gathering or celebration. “Soft lighting is the finishing touch for a festive atmosphere,” the sisters say.
