Gift-wrapping

Fold your own gift box

Anna has gathered brushes, pencils, and pens as a gift for a dear, creative friend. However, lots of smaller gifts are tricky to wrap, so Anna got the idea to fold her own gift box. “In this way, you can also decide which print should go on the wrapping,” she smiles as she adds a couple of caramels in the box as a sweet surprise.

1

If you wish to, you can decorate your cotton paper. Anna has decorated the A4-sized cotton paper with candy stripes. Anna kindly notes that you can also use both cardboard and other types of thick paper to fold this gift box. However, 80 g. paper and regular printing paper are too thin for this purpose.

2

Fold in about 1-2 cm on the long side of the A4 sheet.

3

Fold the folded side over the other long end of the sheet, so the folded edge is parallel with the paper edge underneath. Fold the paper lengthwise again, so you have a narrow strip of folded paper.

4

Mark, where you want to cut a notch into the paper. This should be about 2-3 cm from each end of the paper and the notch should be about 3 cm and cut asymmetrically. This means that the notch should be shorter in the side closest to the ends of the paper.

5

Place double-sided tape along the first fold and stick this to the other long end of the paper. Now, your box should be a rectangle which is open at both ends.

6

Tie a bow around the notch at one end of the box, so the notches pull together.

7

Place the gift in the box and finish off by tying a bow around the other end of the box.
