Hedgehog pencil holder in air-dry clay

With just few tools, Anna and the nephew have made a fun pencil holder. "I have the most colourful hedgehog in the entire world, don't you think, auntie Anna?" the nephew asks. "Oh, I am quite sure of it, dear," Anna answers with a smile.

1

Remove all air-dry clay from the packaging. Separate a small lump and shape the rest into a ball with points in both ends like Anna does in the video. One of the points should be larger than the other. The small point will serve as the tail and the large as the snout.

2

Shape the remaining clay into six balls. Use two of the balls for the ears and the remaining four as paws which are attached to the bottom of the hedgehog body. Anna shows in the video, how the different parts can be attached to the body.

3

Use one or more coloured pencils to poke holes into the back of the hedgehog so the holes will be the right size. Make the holes a bit larger than the actual pencils as the clay will shrink while drying. Leave it to dry for a couple of days.

4

When the figurine is dry, you can opt to sand it down using sandpaper. Paint the hedgehog in your chosen colours of acrylic paint. Leave it to dry again and then the hedgehog can proudly display all the colourful pencils in the children's room.
