Homemade brass ornament
Easily create an ornament out of brass sheet to use in your festive home décor, on the Christmas tree, or as an attachment for a gift.
Choose a motif for your ornament. You can print and cut out one of the sisters' templates found on this page, or you can draw and cut out your own motif - perhaps even a silhouette of someone dear to you, a name, or a date.
Attach the cut-out motif to the brass sheet with a piece of tape.
Place the brass sheet on a soft surface, such as a cloth or a tea towel folded twice. Ensure the brass paper is at the bottom against the soft surface.
"Trace" over your paper template with an embossing tool, so the design's lines are transferred onto the brass paper.
Now cut out your brass paper shape and remove the paper template. Make the embossing more pronounced by embossing directly on the brass paper again until the desired result for your design is achieved.
If the brass paper curls during the process, you can gently roll over it with a rolling pin.
Pierce a hole in the top of the brass ornament with an awl, and thread a string through for hanging.
Now your brass-effect ornament is ready to adorn your home, the Christmas tree, or a beautifully wrapped gift. "You can also make more and hang them all on lovely branches," Anna suggests.
