Homemade crepe paper bow
With just a few materials, you can create a charming bow from crepe paper in your favourite colour. “Yellow for Easter, and red for Christmas,” Clara suggests.
Choose your desired colour of crepe paper. One roll of crepe paper is enough for one bow.
Fold the paper in half and trim both ends to a width of approximately 6 cm. Set these aside – they will be used as the two tails of the bow later.
Now fold the paper in half again so that it has four layers. Cut along the folds on the sides to create four rectangles of the same size. These will be used in pairs to form the loops of the bow.
Pair the rectangles two by two by gluing them together along the short edge using a hot glue gun, as shown in the video. Gently stretch the paper before gluing.
Fold the edges of the paper as shown in the video – both where you glued and along each side – so the edges of the paper are hidden.
Trim the outer 5 cm of each of the bow’s two loops. These strips will be used to form the knot in the centre of the bow.
Now assemble the two loops of the bow by overlapping them in the centre, as shown in the video. Gently pinch the centre and secure all the way around with tape to create an hourglass shape.
Also attach the two tails of the bow, which you set aside in step 2, with tape, as shown in the video.
Hide the central join with one of the trimmed pieces from step 6. Secure it at the back with a hot glue gun.
Finally, stretch and shape the crepe paper until you achieve the desired shape of the bow. It is now ready to decorate your home or be given as a gift to someone special.
