How to crochet a Christmas star
There is nothing like a charming Christmas ornament to set the mood for the holiday season, Anna believes. Do as the sisters do and try your hand at making sweet, crocheted Christmas stars.
This pattern is an intermediate-level project. Jute yarn (no. 8) plus a crochet hook in size 5 mm.
ch: Chain stitch htr: Half treble stitch ss: Slip stitch dc: Double crochet stitch dtr: Double treble stitch
Row 1: Start with 5 chain stitches (ch), close as a circle with a slip stitch (ss). Row 2: This row is to be crocheted within the circle (the first row). 1 ch, 1 half treble stitch (htr), 1 ch, 1 double treble stitch (dtr), 1 ch. Repeat this 5 times until you have 5 points. Close the row with an ss in the ss from the last row. Row 3: Crochet 3 double crochet stitches (dc), 1 ch,1 dtr, I ch, 1 dc in the same stitch as the dtr. Repeat this throughout the row. Close with an ss. Using a needle or crochet hook, weave in the ends on the back. Finishing: Wet and stretch/press the Christmas star, and let it dry on a flat surface. Find a suitable piece of yarn or string to attach for hanging the ornament.
