Knitted flower brooch

The brooch is worked on 5 double-pointed knitting needles size 3 mm from the centre outwards. Each leaf is knitted separately. To finish, you sew on small glass beads in four colours. Sew your flower brooch onto a brooch pin or hair elastic.

Using 5 double-pointed needles size 3 mm and 3 strands of Col 1, cast on 10 stitches (sts), 2 sts on each needle. Round (rd) 1: Knit (k) to end. Rd 2: *k1, yarn over needle (yon) = increase 1, k1*, repeat from * to * on each needle = 15 sts. Rd 3: k to end. Rd 4: *k1, yon, k1, yon, k1*, repeat from * to * on each needle = 25 sts. Rd 5: k to end.

Switch to using 3 strands of Col 2. Rd 6: *k2, yon, transfer first st onto the right needle, yon, k2*, repeat from * to * on each needle = 35 sts. Rd 7: k to end. Rd 8: *k3, yon, k1, yon, k3*, repeat from * to * on each needle = 45 sts. Rd 9: k to end.

Now work each leaf separately. Row (r) 10: k4, yon, k1, yon, k4 = 11 sts. R 11: Slip first st purlwise, p to end. R 12: k5, yon, k1, yon, k5 = 13 sts. R 13: Slip first st purlwise, p to end. R 14: Slip first st knitwise, knit 2 together (k2tog), k1, k2tog, yon, k1, yon, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1 = 11 sts. R 15: Slip first st purlwise, p to end. R 16: k1, k2tog, k2tog, yon, k1, yon, k2tog, k2tog, k1 = 9 sts. R 17: Slip first st purlwise, p to end. R 18: k1, k2tog, k3, k2tog, k1 = 7 sts. R 19: Slip first st purlwise, p to end. R 20: k1, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1 = 5 sts. R 21: Slip first st purlwise, p to end. R 22: k2tog, k1, k2tog = 3 sts. R 23: Slip first st purlwise, p to end. Break off yarn and pull the yarn tail through the remaining 3 sts. Work the remaining 4 leaves in the same way.

Using the yarn tails, sew glass beads to the centre of the flower and along the petal tips. Sew the brooch pin to the centre of the flower on the wrong side. Weave in any remaining ends.
