Knitted guest towel

The sisters enjoy doing small cosy projects when they are spending time at their cottage. "Like this lovely guest towel which is both pretty and practical," Anna says. Use one ball of yarn or yarn scraps and follow Anna's lead.

1

The hand towel is knitted in mock rib pattern back and forth on the needle. To make one hand towel, you will need 50 g of yarn. You can make the hand towel plaincoloured or with stripes using yarn leftovers.

2

Using knitting needles size 4 mm, cast on 61 stitches (sts).

3

Border: Work 12 rows (rs) in garter stitch (knit (k) to end in every r).

4

Now work in the mock rib pattern as follows: Row 1: k to end. Row 2: k6, *p1, k1*, repeat from * to * until 6 sts remain in r, k6.

5

Repeat these 2 rs until the hand towel measures 40 cm.

6

To continue, work 6 rs of garter stitch (border).

7

Row 7: Make a hole (for hanging): k28, cast off 5 sts, k28.

8

Row 8: k28, cast on 5 sts, k28.

9

Finish with 5 rs of garter stitch. Cast off.

10

Weave in ends.

  • Cotton yarn, 1 ball (50 g/160 m).
  • Knitting needle size 4 mm.
