Noticeboard from canvas and yarn

Anna's homemade noticeboard from canvas and yarn combines beauty and practicality. The sisters sometimes leave little sweet notes for each other on the board.

1

Paint the canvas in your desired colour, and let it dry. Here, a canvas of 24 x 30 cm is used.

2

Mount the end of a ball of yarn to the wood on the back of the canvas with a stapler. Tie at knot around the staple.

3

Wrap the yarn around the canvas until the piece is approx 4 cm wide.

4

Move the yarn threads in to place so they are evenly spaced out. Attach the yarn to the back with a stapler like before and once again tie a knot around the staple.

5

Cut a piece of yarn of approx 3 metres. Attach one end to the wooden edge on the back of canvas on one of the sides, and tie a knot around the staple. Add a needle to the other end of the thread.

6

Now, wrap this yarn around the canvas like before, but this time you must weave the yarn in between the first pieces of yarn. Tighten as you go. Finally, attach the yarn to the back with a staple and tie a knot around the staple.

7

Repeat in the same fashion further down on the canvas. You can vary the distance between the yarn threads for an exciting look.

8

Hang the canvas on the wall, and add little notes, clippings or inspiring pictures to the board.
