Paper strip hearts
Transform paper strips into enchanting hearts, and use them as table décor for Christmas gatherings or atop a gift for a very special someone.
Select a total of 4 paper strips; they should match 2 by 2. Trim the ends of each strip diagonally, so they become pointed.
The 4 strips should now be assembled into a square. Fold the strips one by one over the previous one, but thread the two pointed ends of the fourth strip through the fold of the first strip. Gently pull the ends so that the strips come together to form a square.
Take one strip, and fold it down over the square in the opposite direction from where the strip originates. Repeat this with the remaining strips. Insert the last strip under the first one, and pull it through, as demonstrated in the video.
Now, the tip of the heart should be created by removing individual paper strips, so the tip of the heart becomes free. This is done by threading the paper strips under an open paper pocket opposite, as shown in the video, so the strip is brought up to join the other strips. Turn the heart over along the way to find the open paper pockets. Repeat this with 3 strips, so 2 adjacent sides of the square become free of strips.
When the tip of the heart is exposed, insert a set of paper strips through the adjacent opening, as shown in the video.
Repeat this on two sides of the square, so that the two curves of the heart appear.
Finally, gently trim the excess strips, and tuck the remaining strip slightly back into the braid so that the cut disappears.
