Papier mâché Christmas bell

Turn Christmas time into craft time, and let the sisters inspire you to create your own personal Christmas ornament out of papier mâché.

1

Mix the pulp for papier-mâché with a little water and add acrylic paint, if you wish. Add the water gradually, so the mixture becomes wet but not runny.

2

Cover a glass with aluminium foil, and then gradually cover it with papier mâché mixture, as shown in the video. If the mixture has become too wet, it can be gently wrung out before being applied to the glass. However, do not let it become too dry, as it will not adhere to the rest of the mixture in that case. "It is all about balance," Clara giggles.

3

Form the top of the bell by applying papier mâché mixture to the top of the glass with a straw or pencil in the centre. Remove the straw or pencil before the mixture dries.

4

When you are satisfied with the shape of the bell, the papier mâché mixture needs to dry. This often takes several days, so preferably place it in a warm and dry location.

5

When the bell is completely dry, remove the glass with aluminium foil. The bell can now be decorated with paint in your favourite colours.

6

With some thread, sew on a mini bell on the inside of the bell.

7

Finish by tying a neat bow and a string for hanging through the hole at the top of the bell, and let it adorn your home.
