Pinwheel cake toppers of card stock
"We must celebrate life's events, big and small," Anna smiles as she carefully places the last homemade cake topper in the birthday cake. "They elevate the cake to new heights," Clara notes, observing the decorated dining table, now ready to host yet another of life's grand celebrations.
Cut card stock in any colour or pattern into a square.
Draw diagonal lines from corner to corner of the square with a pencil to form a cross.
Cut along the lines from each corner towards the centre but stop about a cm before the centre.
Now fold all four corners towards the centre one by one and glue the tip of the corner to the centre with a glue gun. Make sure not to press the flaps flat but leave them in an arc. Optionally, use a wooden skewer to hold the corners to the glue while it sets to avoid burning your fingers.
Glue a bead to the joint of the centre as decoration.
Finally, glue a wooden skewer to the back so the cake topper can be inserted into your cake – or wherever you may wish to decorate festively.
