Reusable felt gift tag
Personalise your Christmas gifts with a delightful embroidered felt gift tag. "The extra effort shows care," Anna believes, and Clara adds, "And what a joy that the gift tag is also reusable, so it can change hands year after year."
Print and cut out the template, and place it on a piece of felt in a colour of your choice. Cut out two pieces, but keep the template on the last piece of felt you cut.
Now use the template patterns for your embroidery. Feel free to use a combination of chain stitch and backstitch, as shown in the video. You can, of course, omit or add something – or let your imagination run wild.
When you have embroidered everything you want, carefully remove the template without pulling the embroidery thread.
Put the embroidered piece of felt aside, and take the other piece of felt. Thread the needle with embroidery thread again, and place a manila tag on the back of the felt as a template, with the hole of the manila tag aligned with the top of the heart.
Sew a stitch over the top part of the manila tag, and fasten.
Now create a long loop below your first stitch, and fasten off.
Place two stitches at the bottom of the manila tag, over each of the two lower corners, and fasten off.
Now place both hearts on top of each other with the right sides facing outwards, and sew the felt pieces together. Blanket stitch has been used here in a colour matching the felt.
Your gift tag is now ready to use, as shown in the video. The manila tag can be replaced year after year, allowing the gift tag to be used again and again.
