Shadow paint

Shadow painting is a simple technique with a marvellous outcome, according to the sisters. "An ideal activity for both young and old in spring sunshine," remarks Anna, who patiently shows her nieces how the shadows of the flowers dance on the paper and are captured with delightful watercolours.

1

Pick or purchase some lovely flowers, and place them in a vase in the light, so that their shadow is cast upon the watercolour paper.

2

Now paint after the shadow with watercolour in your favourite colours, as shown in the video. "If the sun shows its mischievous side, you can sketch the shadow with a pencil first, so you can continue the project even if the light should disappear," Clara notes.

3

It is as simple as that. Hang the artwork in a frame for a charming display when it is dry. You can practise painting different shapes by turning the flowers to change the motif. "The beauty of the flowers is wonderful," Anna smiles.
