Sleep mask
A sleep mask can be both practical and fine, and Anna knows that Clara loves wearing one. That is why she has come up with this wonderful pattern to suit Clara’s taste. You can make one too, together with your guests or in your own company. For the sleep mask, the sisters recommend using their cotton and bamboo yarn mix. The bamboo in the yarn mix makes the mask particularly soft to wear. Remember that you can always find a large selection of quality yarns in fashionable colours in your local Søstrene Grene store. You can print the template here:
Using two threads of yarn, make a loop and work 20 chain stitches (ch), turn.
r1: Skip 1 ch, work 19 treble crochets (tr), 1 ch, turn.
r2: Work 2 tr in first st from hook, 19 tr, 1 ch, turn.
r3: Work 2 tr in first st from hook, 20 tr, 1 ch, turn.
r4: Work 2 tr in first st from hook, 21 tr, 1 ch, turn.
r5: Work 2 tr in first st from hook, 22 tr, 1 ch, turn.
r6: Work 2 tr in first st from hook, 23 tr, 1 ch, turn.
r7 (half row): Work 12 tr, 1 ch, turn.
r8: To decrease (dec), skip 1 ch, then work 11 tr, 1 ch, turn.
r9: Dec as before, work 10 tr, 1 ch, turn.
r10: Dec as before, work 9 tr. To finish, cut threads and draw through stitch.
You now have one eye flap. To make the second eye flap, repeat rows 7 to 10.
To make sure that your mask blocks all the light, make an identical mask (possibly in a different colour). Weave in ends. Optional: Using backstitches, embroider e.g. closed eyes onto the mask. To join the two masks, use two threads of yarn (in two colours, if you wish) and work double crochets along edges. Weave in ends. Finally attach a ribbon to the sides of the mask for tying at the back of the head.
