Strawberry garland made of egg cartons

"A decorative strawberry garland extends the feeling of sun and summer," Anna says with a smile. With simple means, you can recycle and transform your egg box into a garland, which can be used time and again for festive occasions or in the children's room.

1

Start by cutting as many tips off the bottom of the egg carton as the number of strawberries you want.

2

Now trim each tip so that both the top and bottom consist of four triangular ends. As these ends will later be assembled, it is important that the triangles fit together reasonably well. You can see how to in the video.

3

Now use the flat part of the egg box lid to cut out star-shaped petals (one for each strawberry) as well as decorative leaves to embellish the garland's string. Clara recommends sketching the leaves with a pencil first and then cutting them out.

4

Now paint the strawberries red and the leaves green. Once the strawberries are dry, you can paint small seeds on them with either white, black, or pastel yellow paint, as Anna has done.

5

If you would like a more lifelike expression, you can paint on shadow effects.

6

When both the strawberries and the leaves are dry, it is time to assemble the garland. First, turn on the glue gun. "Remember to be careful with the hot glue," Anna notes.

7

Then, glue the triangular ends of each berry together at both ends, as shown in the video. When the glue is sufficiently dry, it is time for the petals to be glued on. If you like, shape them slightly with your fingers for a more organic look before securing them. Feel free to use a little extra glue on the tips of the petals if they are difficult to secure properly.

8

Cut a suitably long piece of string, and remember to allow for some length at both ends for hanging up the garland. "Better too long than too short. You can always trim the string afterwards," Clara says.

9

Glue the first strawberry onto the string, a short distance from the end. Then, affix a leaf to the string at an appropriate interval. Repeat this process until all the strawberries and leaves are glued in place. Once the glue is dry, the garland is ready for use in a child's room or for a festive occasion.
