Tea Cosy

This lovely tea cosy helps keep your tea hot during the cold months of the year. ”It is both practical and cosy,” believes Clara.

Using a circular needle size 6 mm and grey yarn, cast on 108 sts. Work 15 rds in garter stitch. Using purple yarn, work the pattern (13 rds in all). Work from the chart. Each square is 1 st. There are 4 sts between each star; but 7 sts between the first and the last star in rnd. Now, using grey yarn, work 15 rnds in garter stitch. Decrease. *Knit 16 sts. Knit 2 sts together.* Continue from * to * 6 times in all. Next rnd: knit. Next rnd: *knit 15 sts. Knit 2 sts together.* Continue from * to * 6 times in all. Next rnd: knit to end of rnd (switch to double-pointed knitting needles when there are no longer enough stitches on the circular knitting needle). Continue decreasing in alternate rnds until 12 sts remaining. Work 25 rnds. Cast off.

Using the crochet hook and purple wool, pick up 1 st at the centre of the star. Work 3 ch. Then work 4 treble stitches in the same st. Gather the 5 sts by going into the first st and pull the yarn through. Pull the end of the yarn through to the back of the work and tie a knot. Remember to make a bobble on top of the work. Weave in ends.
