Watercolour with transfer motif

Create a beautiful piece with watercolour and easily transfer your favourite motif with the crayon technique. "Personality in a frame looks great in any room," Anna smiles.

1

First, attach a piece of watercolour paper in the desired size to a water-resistant surface using decorative tape – this type of tape is easier to remove from the paper afterwards. Be sure to apply the tape at an even distance from the edge of the paper, as this will create a framed effect when the tape is removed.

2

Now paint the paper with watercolour. Use muted colours as this will increase the contrast between the background and the design you wish to draw in the next steps.

3

Let the paint dry completely. The paper may buckle slightly when wet, but it will flatten out as it dries.

4

Now choose a design that you want to transfer to the background paper and print the design on white paper. Here, Anna has chosen a flower, but it could be anything. Perhaps even a portrait of someone you love?

5

Colour the back of the motif with an oil pastel crayon in the colour you would like the motif to be transferred in – preferably in a thick layer. It is advisable to choose a darker colour, as this will make the motif more visible when transferred.

6

Place the design on the background paper with the pattern facing upwards and the oil pastel colour facing the paper. Tape the design at the top to ensure it does not move in the next step.

7

Now outline the motif with a sharp pencil, as shown in the video, so that the motif is transferred to the background paper via the oil crayon.

8

Finally, carefully remove the top paper and tape and let the artwork adorn a wall or serve as a greeting card for a loved one.
