Transform this year's Advent calendar into a small, cosy village of bags, and place it on a chest of drawers or a shelf at varying heights for a lively display.

Paper bag houses. Paint with acrylic paint on paper bags and close them with a little peg. This way, they look like little townhouses.

Advent calendar made of milk cartons

Transform milk cartons into decorative, cosy houses with a bit of paint. Hide a small gift or Christmas treat inside, and repurpose them as charming tealight houses by placing an LED tealight within once they are empty.

Christmas in every nook. Decorate the Advent houses with cotton wool and small Christmas trees to create an adorable little village.

How to. All you need are empty milk cartons, paint, and paper for decoration. The sisters have used glitter paper and crepe paper to create the roof of the house, but only your imagination sets the limits.

Surprises. What might be hidden in the house next Sunday?

Advent calendar in a basket

Creating an inviting and exciting Advent calendar need not be difficult to make, the sisters believe. Place the gifts in a beautiful basket, and let the little ones search for the next present.

Christmas basket. Display the secret presents in a beautiful basket. This way, they are easy to grab during the Christmas month.

Practicalities. Number the gifts so that the next one in line is easy for the little ones to find.
