Create a personal and imaginative doll's house

Personalise an old doll's house with homemade furniture and lovely colours, or make a cosy doll's house from a couple of suitcases. The only limit is your imagination.

Personal touch. An older doll's house can easily be refreshed with love and elbow grease. Paint and wallpaper the house, and decorate it with lovely homemade furniture and details.

Wallpaper. Use design paper and decoupage glue to wallpaper the rooms of the doll's house. Measure the walls carefully and cut paper to fit. Paint the walls with the glue and place the paper on top. Seal the wallpaper with more glue on top.

Miniature spa. Even dolls need to relax. Fill the bathtub with some polyester padding so the doll can take a lovely bubble bath. Make a scented candle from the lid of an old glue stick. Paint the lid of a bead box white and you have a sink. Old fabrics are perfect for towels and curtains for the small furniture.

Sleep tight. Your doll can sleep in a princess bed if you sew a whole stack of duvets for the bed. A knitted cloth makes for a lovely bedspread.

Soft textiles. Sew pillows, duvets, and curtains from patchwork fabric for the doll's house. It brings warmth and 'hygge'. It might be easier to sew by hand when the scale is so small. Fill the pillows and duvets with polyester padding to make them nice and soft.

Stylish living room. Decorate the doll's house with colours and prints you love. This way, you can add personality to the house.

Endless possibilities. With a bit of self-hardening clay and acrylic paint, you can sculpt and decorate the objects the doll will need in the house.

Micro decorating. You can approach decorating the doll's house as if it were your own home. Which pieces of furniture and objects do you use in your everyday life? What brings 'hygge' to the home?

Kitchen. The doll's house is furnished with a lovely wooden kitchen. The kitchen is made of wooden boxes, paint, beads, and thick metal wire. Here, the doll can even bake a ginger bread house when Christmas is near.

Multifunctional beads. Beads of all colours, sizes, and materials are great for a number of doll's house projects. You can use them for door handles, furniture handles or legs, buttons on a stove, or as the foot of a lamp. For instance, make a lamp by sticking a piece of metal wire through a button. Add beads to the wire until the lamp is the desired height. Then make a lampshade from cardboard, design paper, and glue.

Dining room. A paper lampshade from some string lights is the perfect size for the doll's house. Regular wooden clothes pegs make for some lovely legs for the doll's bench. Use three push pins for an easy coat rack.

Ready for Christmas. At Christmas, the doll's house can be decorated from top to bottom. Outside the house, snow has fallen. The doll has put on a winter coat to properly enjoy the Christmas weather.

From suitcase to home. Two suitcases can quickly turn into a cute home when stacked. Here, a little toy mouse has moved in.

The little details. Decorate the doll's house with cute details to set a cosy mood. Think about the toy or doll that lives in the home. Which objects fit the personality of the doll?

Cosy warmth. Create a warm atmosphere in your doll's house by making a fireplace. Cut an arch out of a piece of black cardboard. Glue the cardboard together to form a cylinder. Glue a circle on the top and in the bottom. Use a paper straw as the chimney. The fire can easily be made from felt and glitter pipe cleaners.

Imaginative functions. How does the toy mouse reach the bedroom? It uses a rope ladder, of course. Using your imagination, you can create the most curious details.

Mouse nest. Set up a cute bedroom for the toy mouse. Fill the floors with hay and make an easy hammock by sewing a drawstring hem in each side of a rectangular piece of fabric. Use a knitted sock as a sleeping bag.
